Savvy Ed is a licensed method of teaching English to children aged 8-11. It was created when the son of Diana Kubica, one of the authors of the Teddy Eddie method, completed his preschool course and his mum realised that there was no suitable follow-up method on the market – one that was both advanced and age-appropriate.
Since then, thousands of children all over Poland have benefitted from the Savvy Ed method, which Diana Kubica developed together with Ola Komada to provide a challenging but above all engaging and child-friendly follow-up course.

Unfortunately not. A licence to run Savvy Ed courses can only be purchased by a school that has worked with us for at least one year using the Teddy Eddie method, as Savvy Ed was created as a challenging follow-up for children who have completed the Teddy Eddie course.
Unfortunately not. We start every business partnership with the Teddy Eddie method. This is to evaluate and get to know each other first, while working with the Teddy Eddie method. The Savvy Ed method is the next step, which can be taken no sooner than in the second year of collaboration.
Please refer to the Savvy Ed licence price list.
The Savvy Ed licence is intended for our partners who already offer Teddy Eddie classes. Based on our experience, we believe that if the courses are scheduled to begin in September, the optimal time to sign the licence agreement is between January and March. By planning ahead, it is possible to confidently prepare the entire school for the implementation of the new method. This includes introducing the method to the owner or manager, training teachers, building effective communication with parents, and placing children in appropriate groups ‒ all in a timely manner.
A Savvy Ed method licence can be purchased by a school where at least one of the teachers has been certified as a Method Coordinator. Savvy Ed is a course for children with advanced language skills and we require the school to have someone with a good understanding of the method.
It is also important that as many students in Teddy Eddie Superhero courses as possible use the Playground. This helps children develop the habit of using an educational app, and homework in the app is compulsory in the Savvy Ed course.
Yes. Savvy Ed is a challenging follow-up for children who have completed at least one year of the Teddy Eddie method or another language-rich preschool programme (and have been tested according to the Savvy Ed qualifying criteria). However, if you wish to enrol children who have not previously learnt English or who do not qualify for the Savvy Ed course, we recommend that you choose an alternative beginner course.
Children are placed in Savvy Ed groups after their language skills have been tested using a dedicated qualification tool. You may wish to watch the group placement webinar available on the Bears’ Station cloud. Type in the following keywords: qualification for Savvy Ed groups.
The basic requirements are:
children can read sentences or short texts in Polish and simple sentences in English,
children have completed a challenging English course for young learners, preferably Teddy Eddie,
parents agree to ensure that children do their homework (including online, in the Savvy Quest app).
Yes, provided that the child meets the Savvy Ed qualification criteria. The vast majority of students are Teddy Eddie graduates, although there are some children who have attended other courses and achieved an equally high level of language skills.
Yes. Savvy Ed gives children access to the Cambridge examination pathand gives language school owners the opportunity to stand out in their local market. Combining Edu Bears’ challenging courses with Cambridge examinations can be a unique feature of your school’s offer. Savvy Ed courses correspond to Cambridge exam preparation materials for young learners. You don’t need to worry about the organisational details. We work with partners to advise them on how to structure the exam pathway in their schools.
Of course you can! If you are interested in purchasing and implementing Savvy Ed in your school, you will be granted access to the full version of Savvy Quest, a mobile app where you can explore the coursebooks and homework assignments. Please contact our Sales Team for more information!
Yes. As with Teddy Eddie, two training courses are required before you can start using the Savvy Ed method.
The first is Method Manager training intended for owners and/or managers. It is conducted online and is designed to introduce the organisational and business aspects of the method.
The second type of training is teacher workshops. These are hands-on, live training sessions, intended for all teachers who are new to the Savvy Ed method.
All Savvy Ed students receive access to the Savvy Quest educational app. Unlike the Playground app, Savvy Quest is not intended for playing games. It is a mandatory online homework tool. It is the responsibility of school owners, managers and teachers to ensure that parents understand that this app is an essential part of the language course. This approach helps students achieve superior learning outcomes. Regular contact with the language and systematic revision through Savvy Quest homework assignments makes learning easier and faster, helping students to perform better in Cambridge examinations.
For Savvy Ed levels 1, 2 and 3, classes last 60 minutes each and are held twice a week. Savvy Ed 1A and Savvy Ed 1B levels include two weekly sessions of 45 minutes each. The course consists of 60 classes per school year.
Private primary schools have the option of adopting a schedule tailored to their needs, for example by spreading the material into five lesson units per week (45 minutes each).
The specific frequency of classes and the carefully planned distribution of material help students to successfully complete the challenging programme.
Savvy Ed levels 1A and 1B are half-levels designed for children who scored lower on the placement test. Spreading level 1 over two years allows students to catch up (e.g. in reading) and also means that more Snowball Book tasks can be completed in class with the help of the teacher.
By levelling up children’s skills at this first stage of learning, you can later create mixed Savvy Ed 2 groups including both full and half-level students. For you, this means more satisfied customers whose children can take a Savvy Ed course even if they do not initially have the knowledge and skills required for Savvy Ed 1.
Children should be able to read whole sentences and short texts fluently in their native language. They should also be able to read simple words and short sentences in English.
We do not recommend opening Savvy Ed 2 and 3 groups in the first year of working with the method. However, if a new student comes to your school, for example after living abroad, you can add them to an existing Savvy Ed 2 or 3 group, provided that they have successfully passed the placement test.
